SCARWORK
The effects of scars on the human body cannot be underestimated, the body forms scar tissue as a natural response to trauma, where the skin is punctured or lacerated, either by accident, or by surgery.
During the repair process collagen is laid down, which results in a thickened fibrous mass which impedes circulation and congests lymph flow. Additionally severing of nerves can result in dysthesia of the scar and the surrounding tissue, often for years and years later.
Scars can drag and pull and create restricted movement (classic in breast cancer surgery, I’ve had amazing results where arm and shoulder movement is freer after scarwork)
Also scars can affect the body’s energy meridians. Ie. a c-section or hysterectomy scar can bisect 5 meridians in the body! (a scar is a “road block” to the flow of Chi/Qi)
If your scar is giving you any of the following problems please come and see me-
numbness, tingling, pain. burning, itching, hypersensitivity, atrophy (muscle tissue wastage) postural distortion, reduced range of motion, loss of flexibility, feeling of coldness, feeling of “disconnection” between lower and upper parts of the body, and lastly.. if you have emotional attachment to the scar due to the bad experience you had, emotions can often be released during this work.
I always add in a little Bowen to my scarwork treatment to help rebalance the body, the 2 treatments work so well together.
